Catching The Atmosphere

Here’s one I grabbed in the lashing rain. The weather was chucking squalls at us all morning.
We walked along the river Medina between Cowes and Newport on the Isle of Wight.
I liked the drama and mood of the scene. I didn’t have to think. Instead, I grabbed my iPhone, framed and fired the shot. Before the rain got on the lenses.
The picture?
It decided for itself. It was there. All I had to do was take it. Those little huts? The water reflecting the sky? Yeah, easy choice.
Now, I use the Halide iOS app. It has loads of nice features. My favourite? A slide with my finger on the screen lets me alter the exposure value.
Meaning I can lighten or darken the scene. I gave it a bit extra. It was dark and gloomy. I reckoned the shot may have under-exposed it if I hadn’t.
Aside from that? I didn’t break my own rule. Don’t think. See it, shoot it.
I’m glad I did for this one.
